SUBJECT: | Detectives Attempting to Identify Suspect Who Stole $8,000 Jewelry Display from Kmart | ||
DATE: | January 5, 2017 | ||
CASE #: | 16-023637 | ||
GENERAL NARRATIVE | |||
On October 30, 2016 an unidentified white male suspect stole an estimated $5,000—$8,000 in jewelry from Kmart, located at 1805 East Stone Drive in Kingsport. The jewelry, which consisted of approximately 50-75 gold necklaces and an additional 50-75 silver necklaces, was enclosed in a locked rotating countertop display.
The suspect paced around the display for several minutes and then walked away, only to return shortly thereafter. He then used an unknown tool or device to cut a security cable attached to the display. The suspect grabbed the entire display and ran out the front door. He fled the scene in what is believed to be a green Pontiac Sunfire. The entire incident was captured on store video surveillance with a photo of the suspect taken from that footage included in this release. A clip of the actual video has been made available for viewing on the K.P.D.
