SUBJECT: Church Hill Man Arrested For Multiple Felony Charges

GENERAL NARRATIVE
On August 19th, 2024, at approximately 12:25 am, Kingsport Police were notified of a carjacking that occurred in the area of E. Sevier Street. The victim stated that an unknown male was entering her driver’s seat as she returned to her 2008 silver Honda Accord. The male showed the victim a pistol that was in his waistband and ordered her in the car. The victim got in her car with the unknown male driving. The male drove her to East Lawn Cemetery and ordered her out of the car. The victim stated that she was not injured in the encounter and that the male never pointed the pistol at her.
Kingsport Detectives quickly identified Dystin Johnson as a suspect in the carjacking.
On August 21st, 2024, Officers located and recovered the stolen 2008 Honda Accord.
On August 25th, 2024, Kingsport Police Officers observed a white Kia Sedona in the area of Park Street that Dystin Johnson was known to drive. Officers observed Johnson exit the Kia Sedona and enter 1833 Park Street. While officers were attempting to set up a perimeter around the residence, Johnson fled from the residence on foot to Johnny Brusco’s Pizza. Johnson entered Johnny Brusco’s and stole the keys to an employee’s 2016 Hyundai Sonata and took the car. Officers pursued Johnson in the 2016 Hyundai Sonata before losing sight of him in the area of N. Eastman Road.
Surrounding agencies were notified to look for Johnson and the 2016 Hyundai Sonata. Later that day, Johnson City Police Department located the 2016 Hyundai Sonata and arrested Johnson.
Dystin Johnson is currently being held in the Washington County Jail for charges related to the pursuit.
Johnson is wanted by the Kingsport Police Department for carjacking, aggravated kidnapping, resisting arrest, evading arrest, burglary, motor vehicle theft x2,
