Kingsport Water, Wastewater plants receive national awards
The City of Kingsport is pleased to announce its Water and Wastewater treatment plants have received national awards in recognition of the continued commitment to operational excellence.
Kingsport Utilities received the awards from the American Water Works Association and the National Association of Clean Water Agencies during annual conferences held this summer.
“Whether it’s being delivered at the tap to our customers or sent back to the South Fork of the Holston River, these achievements are a testament to the dedication of our operators, mechanics and laboratory staff,” said Niki Ensor, Kingsport’s Utilities Director.
ABOUT THE AWARDS
The Water Treatment Plant received the Director’s Award from the AWWA, which marks the 15th consecutive year the plant has received this distinction. The award recognizes facilities that meet or exceed stringent performance and water quality standards established under the AWWA’s Partnership for Safe Water program.
The Wastewater Treatment Plant earned the Silver Peak Performance Award from the National Association of Clean Water Agencies (NACWA). This award is given to facilities with no more than five permit violations in a calendar year, highlighting the plant’s high standard of compliance and dedication to environmental protection.
“It’s easy to overlook the complexity and round-the-clock nature of this work, but it should never be taken for granted,” Ensor continued. “These awards not only reflect high standards but also the people behind them who make it all happen. Their hard work is very much appreciated.”
