Kingsport Public Library hosts first-ever writing contest
The Kingsport Public Library, in partnership with the Lost State Writers Guild and Haven Booksellers, is excited to announce its first ever Creative Writing Contest.
Launching November 1, this community-wide initiative invites writers of all ages to showcase their storytelling talent, sharpen their literary skills and celebrate the power of the written word.
The contest is free to enter and open to all eligible library patrons who follow contest guidelines. The entry period runs from November 1 through November 28. Contest guidelines will be posted on the library’s Facebook page November 1 and can be found at the circulation desk beginning November 2.
Submissions will be evaluated by an expert panel of judges from the Lost State Writers Guild. Winners will be announced in the weeks following the deadline, with prizes awarded across three distinct age groups:
- Adult Author Winner: A new Android tablet with a keyboard.
- Teenage Author Winner (grades 6 through 12): A Haven Booksellers prize bundle.
- Elementary Author Winner (grades 2 through 5): A school supply bundle.
“The Kingsport Public Library is committed to helping residents reach their full potential by promoting lifelong learning, creativity and community engagement in a welcoming environment,” said Library Manager Stephanie Griffin. “This new writing contest reflects that commitment by providing an opportunity for local writers to express themselves and share their work with the community.”
The Kingsport Public Library looks forward to establishing this contest as a cherished annual tradition that highlights the exceptional talent within the region.
