Kingsport Public Library Announces Mindfulness Monday Series of Classes
This January, Kingsport Public Library is helping people start their new year with a renewed sense of well-being as they offer weekly mindfulness classes. These classes are intended to teach helpful strategies for coping with the stresses of everyday life. Topics discussed will range from meditation exercises to physical wellness tips.
On January 3rd, class will focus on the benefits of mindful journaling, and how to get started processing emotions via writing.
On January 10th, class will demonstrate the basics of chair yoga: a great, at-work exercise for those who feel body stiffness and can’t quite seem to work the kinks out.
The class on January 24th is entitled “New Year, New Me!” and will discuss healthy nutritious eating habits.
On January 31st, the MedFit team from Great Body Company will join the class to demonstrate myofascial release therapy. Myofascial release therapy is an exercise that works specifically with connective tissues to relieve tightness that causes restrictions.
“After the last several years, learning about tools and strategies to help us control and reduce stress feels like a great way to start this new year!” says Kingsport Public Library Manager Chris Markley.
Mindfulness Mondays will take place each week from 5:30- 6:30 p.m in the library auditorium.
There is no cost for entry, and all necessary materials will be provided. Masks are recommended for this indoor event.
