SUBJECT: Kingsport Police Department Warns of Scam

GENERAL NARRATIVE
The Kingsport Police Department has been notified of a scam where individuals falsely claim to represent us and solicit money by phone. We would like to remind citizens that we WILL NEVER attempt to collect money for any fine or fundraiser via phone. Even if the phone number looks legitimate, DO NOT give out your personal and/or financial information over the phone. ALWAYS verify that you are actually speaking to a law enforcement officer. You can always call our Central Dispatch at (423)246-9111 to validate an officer’s call.
