Kingsport Parks and Recreation offers free referee classes
Kingsport Parks and Recreation has partnered with TNT Sportsplex to offer free basketball referee classes to anyone interested in giving back to the community, staying in the game and helping make a positive impact on local basketball players.
The free classes are being offered in the hopes participants could work weekday evening games or weekend tournaments.
The classes will be held on the following dates:
- October 27 from 2 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. at the V.O. Dobbins, Sr. Complex (301 Louis Street).
- November 7 from 6 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. at the TNT Sportsplex (600 E. Main Street).
Participants must be at least 18 years old, be knowledgeable in the rules of basketball, have reliable transportation and bring a whistle. No registration is required, and participants do not have to attend both classes.
“This is a great opportunity for former basketball players or anyone knowledgeable in basketball to come out and help make a difference in our leagues,” said Program Coordinator Renee Ensor.
