Kingsport Parks and Recreation offering specialty camps
Kingsport’s Parks and Recreation Department is offering a series of specialty camps this summer for children and teenagers with each one focusing on a specific activity for an entire week.
If your child loves competing in video games, building with LEGO bricks or engaging in adaptive activities, then our specialty camps just might be the program to sign up for this summer.
The five specialty camps being offered this summer include:
Basketball Camp: (June 27 at the V.O. Dobbins, Sr. Complex) – Join us for a fun and engaging experience focused on skill development, teamwork and gameplay. Campers will work on fundamentals like dribbling, shooting and passing while building confidence and having fun. Ages 8-15.
E-Sports Camp: (June 1-4 from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. at the V.O. Dobbins, Sr. Complex) – Campers will have the opportunity to play and be instructed on a variety of games, including Fortnite, Rocket League and more. Consoles will be available, but campers can bring their own as well. Ages 6-15.
Inclusive Camp: (June 15-18 from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. at the V.O. Dobbins, Sr. Complex) – Throughout the week, campers will have the opportunity to engage in a wide range of inclusive and adaptive activities that cater to diverse interests and abilities, from arts and crafts to sports and music. Ages 14 and up.
LEGO Camp: (June 8-11 from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. at Borden Park) – Our LEGO specialty camp is where creativity, imagination and building come to life in a world of colorful bricks and endless possibilities. Throughout themed workshops, experiments, and challenges, campers will learn the fine art of building while having a blast with LEGO bricks. Participants will receive a LEGO set. Ages 5-12.
Treadz Bicycle Camp: (May 26-29 from 10 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. at Borden Park, the Pump Track and the Kingsport Greenbelt). This camp caters to various skill levels, from beginners learning balance and coordination to older kids mastering advanced riding techniques. Ages 2-12.
