Kingsport Parks and Recreation offering specialty camps this summer
Kingsport’s Parks and Recreation Department is offering a series of specialty camps this summer for children and teenagers with each one focusing on a specific activity for an entire week.
If you child loves competing in video games, building with LEGO bricks or crashing the volleyball net, then our specialty camps just might be the program to sign up for this summer.
The five specialty camps being offered this summer include:
E-Gaming Camp: (June 3- 7 from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. at the V.O. Dobbins Sr Complex) – Campers will have the opportunity to play and be instructed to play a variety of games. Gamers will unite to hone their skills, connect with other gamers and dive into the world of electronic sports. Campers will have to bring their own console. Ages 7-14.
Inclusive Camp: (June 10-14 from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. at the V.O. Dobbins Sr Complex) – Throughout the week, campers will have the opportunity to engage in a wide range of inclusive and adaptive activities that cater to diverse interests and abilities, from arts and crafts to sports and music. Ages 14 and up.
Volleyball Camp: (June 24-28 from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. at the Lynn View Community Center) – Our volleyball camp is for young athletes to come together and learn the beginning and intermediate skills of volleyball. Throughout the week, campers will participate in a variety of drills, games and scrimmages that focus on developing essential volleyball skills. Ages 7-13.
LEGO Camp: (July 8-12 from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. at Borden Park) – Our LEGO specialty camp is where creativity, imagination and building come to life in a world of colorful bricks and endless possibilities. Throughout themed workshops, experiments, and challenges, campers will learn the fine art of building while having a blast with LEGO bricks. Participants will receive a LEGO set. Ages 6-12.
Pickleball Camp: (July 8-12 from 9 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. at Riverview Park pickleball courts) – Our pickleball camp offers participants the opportunity to refine their skills and enhance their understanding of the fundamentals of the sport. Participants will receive instruction on the fundamentals and mechanics of basic pickleball, tailored to their skill and experience. Ages 8-14.
