Kingsport offering Youth Basketball for Fall Season
The Kingsport Parks and Recreation Department is now accepting registrations for the 2024 Youth Basketball program.
Participants must live inside Kingsport’s city limits, own city property or attend Kingsport City Schools. Leagues offered include Bantam (5-6), Pee Wee Boys (7-8), Pee Wee Girls (7-9), Rookie Boys (9-10) and Senior Boys (15-17).
The age determination date is August 15, 2024. Registration ends September 25.
The season for Bantam, Pee Wee Boys & Girls and Rookie Boys will start October 14 and run through December 18. Senior Boys will begin their season in November and run into January (weather permitting).
The registration fee is $30 per child. After rosters are released, parents will have to go to Wheelhouse and order their jerseys for an additional fee to be determined.
NOTE – There are a couple of changes to the youth basketball program this year.
All Bantam league sessions will include 20 minutes of skill development before each 20-minute game. Participants will practice basketball fundamentals, such as passing, shooting and dribbling during the skill development time.
The Pee Wee Boys and Girls leagues will include a separate practice session and game each week of the eight-week program. As with the Bantam league, the practice sessions will focus on basketball fundamentals, such as passing, shooting and dribbling.
