Kingsport offering class on how to make your own soap
Kingsport’s Parks and Recreation Department has partnered with Verbena & Sage Botanicals of Kingsport to offer a special one-day class on soap making.
Soap is rather easy to make, and the benefits are numerous – it’s better for your health, you can customize the soap however you like, it’s cheaper than buying soap in a store and it’s a chance to show off your creative talents. Soap-making could become your next, fun hobby or even a side hustle for additional income.
Kingsport’s soap-making class is scheduled for October 8 from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. at the V.O. Dobbins, Sr. Complex (301 Louis Street). The cost is $30 per person and the class is open for all ages.
Each participant will make four to six bars of soap using a variety of fragrances and molds.
“Soap making has become extremely popular in recent years and since we’ve never held a class like this before, we thought it would be a great time to offer one to the community,” said Program Leader Milly Marmalade. “If you’ve ever thought about making your own soap, but didn’t know where to start, this class is going to be perfect for you.”
