Kingsport needs volunteers for advisory boards, commissions
If you’d like to make a difference in your hometown, the City of Kingsport is in need of volunteers to serve on three of its advisory boards and commissions. The boards and commissions in need of volunteers include:
- Cultural Arts Commission
- PETWORKS Board of Directors
- Tree Advisory Board
The Cultural Arts Commission meets at city hall on the second Friday in February, April, June, August, October and December. Each member has a three-year term length and serves as the advisory committee to the Board of Mayor and Aldermen on public art policies and guidelines.
The PETWORKS Board of Directors is charged with offering advice on the operation of the animal shelter, specifically to upholding its mission of sheltering, caring for and rehoming adoptable animals. The board meets at noon on the fourth Thursday of each month at Kingsport City Hall.
The Tree Advisory Board offers advice and makes recommendations on the planting and care of trees on city property. Member term length is two years and the board meets at 9 a.m. on the third Thursday, every other month at the Kingsport Chamber of Commerce.
To apply for any of these boards and commissions, simply visit ServeKingsport (www.servekingsport.com) and answer the short questionnaire. Here you will be asked why you wish to volunteer, your previous volunteering experience and which boards and commissions interest you.
Completing the survey does not guarantee an appointment. To take the ServeKingsport survey, visit www.servekingsport.com.
