Kingsport hosting two “glow” events in February
Looking for a fun, family-friendly activity to do that doesn’t involve the bitter cold? Why not come out and enjoy a couple of indoor “glow” events sponsored by Kingsport Parks and Recreation?
Glow events are when participants wear neon or white clothes, the lights to a gym are turned off and the black lights are turned on. Everyone then “glows” in the dark while running around and playing a game.
Kingsport has two such “glow” events taking place later this month.
First, is an Extreme Glow Dodgeball event at the Lynn View Community Center (257 Walker St.) on February 12 from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. The event is free and no prior registration is required.
Obstacles and barriers will be set up in the playing field to add to the excitement and challenge of the game.
“This will be a fun night to bring the family out for this free event,” said Renee Ensor, Kingsport Parks and Recreation Program Administrator.
Then on February 18, Kingsport Parks and Recreation is hosting a Glow in the Dark Volleyball event at the V.O. Dobbins, Sr. Complex (301 Louis St.). The event is for people ages 16 and up and the cost is $5 per player. There will be three divisions of play based on skill levels.
- B Division (6:30 p.m. to 7:45 p.m.)
- BB Division (8 p.m. to 9:15 p.m.)
- A Division (9:30 p.m. to 10:45 p.m.)
“Glow volleyball has been one of our most successful events we’ve ever had,” Ensor continued. “It’s always just a fun night of social volleyball play.”
