Kingsport Archives hosts special movie screening
The Kingsport Archives is hosting a special Movie Monday event at the Kingsport Chamber of Commerce on April 24. The event will be for a screening of “Kingsport” – a movie from the U.S. State Department’s Voices of America Program.
The screening will be held in the Eastman Board Room at the chamber (400 Clinchfield Street) on April 24 from 4 p.m. to 5 p.m. The event is free and open to the public.
“Kingsport” was filmed in 1949 and produced by Knickerbocker Productions Inc., of New York City. The film features local Kingsport residents and depicts day to day life in Kingsport as representative of a typical American community.
The Voices of America Program films were intended for overseas distribution to encourage people to move to Kingsport.
