Kingsport Aquatic Center offering Babysitting Course
The Kingsport Aquatic Center is offering a special Babysitting and First Aid Camp this summer for children and teens interested in broadening their credentials, while learning critical life-saving skills.
The American Red Cross Babysitting and First Aid/CPR/AED Camp will be offered seven times this summer with sessions on June 8, 10, 22 and 24 and July 8, 21 and 23. All sessions run from 8 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. and cost $40 per participant.
The camp is designed to teach campers to take care of children and infants safely and responsibility. Participants who complete the class will be certified in American Red Cross First Aid/CPR/AED.
The camp is open for youth ages 11 to 15 and participants will the learn the following skills
- Age-appropriate activities
- Basic childcare
- Becoming an effective leader
- Bleeding emergencies
- Emergency action plan steps
- Keeping everyone safe
- Recognizing and handling a variety of behaviors
- Responding to choking emergencies
Note – the Kingsport Aquatic Center asks parents to not pick up campers during class content sessions due to the camp being a certification course. Camper must attend and participate in all of the content to become certified.
