Kingsport announces Fordtown Road Bridge project
The Fordtown Road Bridge over Kendrick Creek near the Interstate 81 northbound ramps will be under construction beginning later this week and continuing through the end of the year.
The project calls for the replacement of the sleeper slabs and expansion joints and the addition of reinforced fill and drainage systems. Crews will also be performing some repairs to the south abutment.
The bridge will remain open during this phased construction project and traffic will be shifted over to accommodate the work. Motorists travelling in the vicinity of this project are urged to use caution and be on the lookout for workers in the work zones.
Thomas Construction Company, Inc. will be performing the work for the City of Kingsport. The cost of the project is $807,549.
