Junior Viperfish Summer League accepting registrations
Summertime is the perfect time for kids and teens to hone their swimming skills, make new friends and compete in a safe and friendly environment. As such, the Junior Viperfish Summer League is now accepting registrations at the Kingsport Aquatic Center.
This program is designed to introduce young swimmers to the world of competitive swimming. The Junior Viperfish Summer League is not designed to teach kids how to swim but rather to improve their basic swimming skills and compete in four or five swim meets throughout the summer.
The summer league is open for children and teens ages 6 and up. No competitive experience is required to join.
The cost to register is $125 (KAC member), $150 (YMCA member) or $175 (non-member). The registration fee covers coaching for all swimmers, practices, swim meets, a team shirt and end of year celebration.
Practices will take place Monday, Wednesday and Thursday mornings and evenings, beginning May 27. Practice times will be determined by your skill level.
If you would like to have an evaluation done for group placement, contact Madison Gump at 423-343-9767.
Participants will compete in four to five meets and one championship meet during the summer. Swim meets are optional. For the meets, the Kingsport Aquatic Center will need parental involvement for a variety of duties, including timers, score keepers, starters and stroke officials. One family member per family must volunteer at each meet.
Several parent information meetings will be held for interested families to attend. You can visit https://bit.ly/4d0dGqP to see upcoming meeting times. To register for the summer league, visit www.kingsporttn.gov and click the “CivicRec” link, then search for “viperfish.”
