Jared Drive closure

Starting July 1, Jared Drive will be vacated and the road closed. Eastman Chemical Company is the applicant for the Jared Drive right-of-way vacating and owns the land surrounding the proposed vacating. This vacating will accommodate a railway expansion by Eastman.

The distance of Jared Drive right-of-way being vacated by the city is approximately 1,500 feet. The construction of a new cul-de-sac turnaround that terminates the southeastern end (at the railroad tracks crossing Jared Drive) of the vacated portion of Jared Drive has already began.

The existing Riverport Road connection to South Wilcox Drive will remain open, as that section of roadway is not affected by this closure.

The portion of Jared Drive abutting South Wilcox Drive that is currently owned by the State of Tennessee is being vacated by the state simultaneously with the city vacating. If you have any questions, please contact Savannah Garland at 423-343-9783.
