SUBJECT: Altered Traffic Pattern at Rock Springs Road and Edinburgh Channel Road (Afternoon School Dismissal Hours Only)

GENERAL NARRATIVE
Traffic patterns on Rock Springs Road at Edinburgh Channel Road will change starting this afternoon. The changes will be in effect from 3:15 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. These changes are being implemented to reduce congestion and address safety concerns for motorists and pedestrians in the area while John Adams Elementary School releases students. The primary impact to motorists is that no left turns will be permitted going northbound on Rock Springs Road at Edinburgh Channel Road during the previously mentioned 45-minute window. Signs and additional officers will be posted to assist with this traffic change.
Also, the Kingsport Police Department would like to remind the public that passing other vehicles when there is a double yellow line is illegal, even if traffic becomes congested to the point of being stopped. Do not enter oncoming traffic over double yellow lines to pass/overtake other vehicles. We appreciate your patience and understanding as we work to adjust traffic flow during school dismissal.
