Kingsport Cultural Arts announces Mobile Art Classes
Kingsport Cultural Arts is bringing the arts to you all next month through a series of new, mobile classes.
Funded by an Arts Education Community Learning grant from the Tennessee Arts Commission, Kingsport Cultural Arts is pleased to announce the creation of Mobile Art Classes. These will be free classes taking place during the month of September, aimed at children in grades 1 through 12.
This first series of free mobile art classes will be located at the V.O. Dobbins, Sr. Complex and feature the following topics:
- Colors and Creativity for Grades 1-4:September 11, 18, and 25 from 5 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. at the V.O. Dobbins, Sr. Complex Community Room.
- Shadows and Shading for Grades 5-8: September 12, 19, and 26 from 5 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. at the V.O. Dobbins, Sr. Complex Community Room.
- Plein Air Painting for Grades 9-12: September 8, 15, and 22 from 4:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. at the V.O. Dobbins, Sr. Complex Picnic Pavilion.
“We’re thrilled to have received this grant and we’re hoping to offer more classes like it next spring,” said Program Leader Linore Huss. “The idea behind the program was two-fold – to offer free art classes to the community and increase accessibility for kids whose parents work or aren’t able to take them to classes.”

The Mobile Art classes are a grant-funded initiative organized by Kingsport Cultural Arts and the City of Kingsport. This program is funded under a grant contract with the State of Tennessee, Tennessee Arts Commission.
