Christmas in Kingsport continues this week with holiday fun at the Kingsport Carousel, snow returning to Centennial Park and a special showing of a classic Christmas movie at the library.

Events coming up later this week include:
DECEMBER 15
Downtown Walking Tour (6 p.m. to 8 p.m.) – Take a self-guided tour of Downtown Kingsport’s most cheerful holiday spots. Begin at the nativity scene and take your time strolling through downtown while listening to songs from the Lamplight Theatre crew.
DECEMBER 16
Christmas at the Kingsport Carousel – Free rides with Santa from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m., reindeer games with Parks and Recreation and snow is coming to the playground beginning at 1 p.m.
Centennial Park – Beginning at 7 p.m., snow is coming back to Centennial Park for another evening of festive photograph opportunities.
DECEMBER 17
Kingsport Public Library – Bring the family to a special Tom Hanks animated holiday movie showing at 2 p.m. (limited to 130 guests). Library staff will also offer crafts for kids in Glen Bruce Park. Finally, enjoy snow in the park from 4 p.m. to 5 p.m. and then again from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m.

| Update: Amaya Rochelle Haywood has been found safe and is no longer considered a missing juvenile.
As previously released: On the afternoon of December 8, 2022, Amaya Rochelle Haywood was reported as a missing juvenile to the Kingsport Police Department. She was reportedly last seen earlier that afternoon in the 1000 block of University Boulevard in Kingsport. While there is no known reason to suspect foul play at this time, due to her minor age, every possible effort is being made to locate her. Amaya is a 12 year old white female. She is approximately 5 feet tall and weighs roughly 100 pounds. She has brown hair and hazel eyes. She was last seen wearing black and red checkered pajama pants, a black hooded sweatshirt, and red and black athletic shoes. Her photograph is included with this release. Anyone who sees her, or who may potentially know her current whereabouts, is asked to contact Detectives in the K.P.D.
