2023 Kingsport MTPO Executive Board Meeting Schedule

There will be a Public Meeting of the Kingsport Metropolitan Transportation Planning Organization (MTPO) Executive Board on Thursday, August 5, 2021 at 1:30 P.M. in the Kingsport City Hall Board Room at 415 Broad Street in Kingsport, Tennessee. Copies of the agenda and supporting documentation can be found in the MTPO office, Kingsport City Hall lobby, the Kingsport Public Library, or here. The primary items for this meeting include adoption of the FY22-FY23 Unified Planning Work Program, a Resolution of Support for Gate City’s Transportation Alternatives application, and a presentation about TDOT’s 3-year Comprehensive Multimodal Program. Time is also allotted for the Executive Board to receive comments on these or other items pertaining to the Kingsport Metropolitan Transportation Planning Organization. The meeting will be in-person and members of the public are welcome to attend. We also plan to offer live public access to the meeting through a Zoom webinar. Members of the public who are interested in attending remotely should send an email to MTPO@KingsportTN.gov to request the log in information for the meeting. In order to allow time to respond, your request must be received by 12:00 pm on August 4, 2021. This will be our first attempt at a hybrid meeting in our new location so please bear with us if there are any technical difficulties. Disabled citizens wishing to attend and needing special accommodations or anyone seeking further information on the MTPO meeting should contact William A. Albright at (423) 224-2677. The Kingsport Metropolitan Transportation Planning Organization (MTPO) last updated its regional bicycle and pedestrian plan in 2012. A plan update is currently underway with the final plan submittal scheduled for summer of 2021.  As part of the planning process, the MTPO will be kicking off the second round of public engagement with a live virtual workshop on April 8 from 5:30 to 7:00 PM.  The MTPO will discuss the findings from the first public workshop, the draft network recommendations, and additional ways the public can get involved.  A Q&A period will follow the workshop presentation.

In light of the COVID-19 pandemic and pursuant to Executive Order 71 in Tennessee and HB29/30 in Virginia, the meeting will be held electronically with no physical access permitted by the public. Executive Board members are not required to be physically present in one location. Board members attending the meeting by electronic or telephonic means will be counted in the quorum and will be entitled to vote. All votes will be taken by roll call. Copies of the agenda and supporting documentation can be found here. The primary items for this meeting include election of a Vice Chair, adoption of Performance Targets for Tennessee and Virginia, and an update on the Long Range Transportation Plan. Time is also allotted for the Executive Board to receive comments and questions on these or other items pertaining to the Kingsport Metropolitan Transportation Planning Organization.
