Wildlife Resistant Garbage Carts
There has been desire from residents the city provide a garbage cart option to help with wildlife issues in neighborhoods. The city has ordered 100 carts and residents within city limits will be able to request a cart on a ‘first come, first serve’ basis. If there is a high demand, more carts can be ordered as funding is allocated.
When the wildlife resistant carts arrive, the monthly cost is $20. The cost will not be added to customer bills until after the cart has been delivered to the address. The carts are only available to residents inside Kingsport city limits at this time.
Requests for the wildlife resistant carts will be done through the city app ConnectKingsport or by calling customer service (423-343-9860). Residents will need their account number to complete the request. Click here for an example bill to help with locating your account number. Please note – this is only a request for a cart. Once a request has been submitted, it will be reviewed and pending availability, granted to requester or request will be placed on waitlist.
Wildlife Resistant Cart Information
Wildlife Resistant Carts are designed to minimize conflicts with bears and other wildlife. The carts are constructed using a molding process that creates an extremely durable trash can. The carts have a rugged rim to help defend against chewing, a double-walled lid and minimized pry points, which makes them tough enough to withstand the strongest claws and jaws.
The cart is lightweight and easy to maneuver. It’s ready to use once delivered – lid, lock, stop bars, and body are fully assembled.
