GENERAL NARRATIVE | |||
After announcing the Aftermath K9 Grant Competition last week, we learned that they were experiencing technical difficulties with their website which resulted in a temporary suspension of the voting link. As of October 22, 2018, the voting link appears to be back operational, and we are still asking for your vote.
Click this link https://www.aftermath.com/k9-grant/ to vote now! Remember that there are two ways to vote, and you can vote more than once: 1) Vote once every 12 hours online, at https://www.aftermath.com/k9-grant/ AND 2) Vote once daily on Instagram (follow @AftermathK9Grant for instructions). As previously released: The Kingsport Police Department is asking for your vote in the Aftermath K-9 Grant Competition. Click this link https://www.aftermath.com/k9-grant/ to vote now! Per their website: “Aftermath Services is the premier provider of trauma cleaning and biohazard remediation. For over 20 years, we have provided professional and compassionate services to more than 18,000 families, communities, and businesses after traumatic events. We believe that our customers deserve the highest quality service while being treated with dignity and respect.” Regarding their grant, they state: “The Aftermath K9 Grant was founded to showcase, support, and reward the unique contributions made by law enforcement and their K9 units across the country. Indirectly, the K9 Grant raises safety awareness and community kinship throughout the neighborhoods that Aftermath and our law enforcement partners proudly serve.” This year, the Aftermath K9 Grant will award a total of $16,500 in grants that can be used to further established K9 units or to create brand new ones. Communities nationwide will determine the top eight award recipients through popular vote.
The voting period begins on October 18th and concludes on November 2nd. Anyone in the community – whether you are a citizen, a student, a local business representative, or a fellow officer – can vote to support the K.P.D. K9 Unit! Please don’t just vote once and forget about us. After you vote the first time, keep going back and voting again and again. There are two ways to vote: 3) Vote once every 12 hours online, at https://www.aftermath.com/k9-grant/ AND 4) Vote once daily on Instagram (follow @AftermathK9Grant for instructions). Kingsport’s City Clerk Angie Marshall accepted a new role as president of the Tennessee Association of Municipal Clerks and Recorders (TAMCAR) last week.
Since 2010 Marshall has worked as the City Clerk and has been a member of TAMCAR. She has steadily climbed her way up TAMCAR’s chain of succession since being elected as secretary several years ago.
“When I was elected as secretary, I knew the role of president was inevitable and I have anxiously been looking forward to the challenge,” Marshall said. “I have forged so many valuable friendships across the state during the last eight years and I know that these relationships will help me move our organization forward.”
Marshall has a long resume of public service. She holds degrees in criminal justice and public management from ETSU and has worked for three different municipalities since beginning her career in 1996. Her career has included not only clerking, but a long stint as a police officer in Oak Ridge. She came home to Kingsport when the City Clerk/Deputy City Recorder position opened up eight years ago.
TAMCAR provides continuing educational opportunities and certification credits to clerks across the state of Tennessee. Marshall’s ambitions as president include increasing membership, as well as attendance at TAMCAR’s twice-yearly conference.
While Marshall is excited to serve as TAMCAR’s president, she’s not done moving upward. She has her sights set on the International Institute of Municipal Clerks (IIMC) as well, from which she received a Master Municipal Clerk designation last year.
“My goal is to eventually serve on the IIMC board as well, so that I can benefit not only clerks in Tennessee, but around the world,” Marshall said.
