KINGSPORT – Kingsport Fire Departments (KFD) Accreditation Committee and members of the Board of Mayor and Alderman met with a Fire Service Peer Assessment Team this week for review and recommendations toward the KFDs Accreditation with the Commission on Fire Accreditation International (CFAI). The KFD will receive the final results in August of this year at Fire Rescue International in San Antonio, Texas.
The Peer Assessment Team consisted of Chief Mike Stallings, Rock Mount (NC) Fire Department (retired), Chief Matt Knott, Rockford (IL) Fire Department, Chief Andrew Ansley, Monroe (NC) Fire Department and Chief Josh Smith, Statesville (NC) Fire Department.
The CFAI confers Accredited Agency status for a period of five years, during which an agency must submit four Annual Compliance Reports to demonstrate their continued compliance with core performance indicators and report on progress in executing their plans for improvement. The Commission determines if the reports are acceptable and the agency may retain its accredited status. At the end of the fifth year, an Accredited Agency must seek reaccreditation and successfully complete the peer review process to remain accredited.
Currently the Kingsport Fire Department is one of only four fire departments in the state of Tennessee and was one of the first 40 in the world recognized as an Accredited Agency through the Center for Public Safety Excellence Commissions Fire Accreditation International. Brentwood (TN) Fire & Rescue, City of Maryville (TN) Fire Department, and the City of Alcoa Fire Department are the other agencies in Tennessee.

KINGSPORT – Due to the Racks by the Tracks festival on Saturday, May 14, Clinchfield St, from Center Street to Press Street, will close Friday, May 13 at 8:00 pm to prepare for the festival.‚ Both directions of traffic will be closed and will remain closed through the duration of the event Saturday evening.
In addition to the Clinchfield St closure, several road closures will occur this Saturday due to the festival and its activities.‚ Please refer to the attached chart of the Racks by the Tracks ‚¬SPF 10K & 5K road races staring at 9:00 am and 10:30 am, respectively.
On Saturday, May 14, the Farmers Market and Carousel will be closed.‚ The Farmers Market will resume its normal schedule on Wednesday, May 18, as will the Carousel on Sunday, May 15.

| GENERAL NARRATIVE | |||
| On the evening of November 2, 2015, Kingsport Police Patrol Officers and Detectives were called to a residence on Hillhurst Circle in Kingsport to investigate a residential burglary. The residents had just returned home from a four-day vacation, only to find that their home had been burglarized.
While the home had been left locked, and there was no sign of forced entry, the interior had been ransacked and numerous items were missing. Several thousand dollars in computer equipment had been stolen. The computer equipment included five (5) Dell laptops, two (2) Lenova laptops, two (2) Lenova Think Pads, and one (1) Westin external hard drive. Other items stolen during the burglary included a collection of jewelry valued at approximately $50,000. The jewelry collection was part of a dowry from an Indian wedding and contained various unique designs that should be easily recognizable. The suspect(s) also unsuccessfully attempted to remove a large flat screen television from a wall, and while doing so, apparently left behind one piece of evidence. A black ball cap with blue Under Armour logo was found on the floor of the residence near the flat screen television. As it did not belong to the homeowners, it is believed to have been accidentally left behind by the suspect(s). The hat had been stained with what appears to be splotches of white paint. K.P.D. Detectives have been investigating this crime since it occurred and have exhausted all leads. Photographs of the ball cap and the stolen jewelry have been included in this release in hopes that by seeing them, someone’s memory will be spurred and new leads will be developed. Anyone who has any information that will assist Detectives with developing a suspect and solving this case is asked to contact the K.P.D.
