General Narrative |
A single vehicle ran off the roadway and flipped, coming to rest on the vehicle’s top.
On February 12, 2014 at approximately 11:30 AM, a 2009 Scion TC 2-door coupe, driven by a 16 year old white female (name will not be released), was traveling south on John B. Dennis Highway just south of the Orebank Road overpass. The driver failed to maintain control of her vehicle, allowing the driver’s side wheels to run off the roadway into the grass median. In an attempt to return the vehicle to the roadway, the driver over-corrected, causing the vehicle to spin back into the median. Upon re-entering the median, the vehicle flipped, ultimately coming to rest on its top in the northbound lanes of John B. Dennis Highway. The driver received possible injuries, while her passenger, a 17 year old white female (name will not be released), received non-incapacitating injuries. Both girls were transported to Holston Valley Medical Center by Sullivan County E.M.S. for treatment. Both the driver and passenger were wearing their seatbelts, which likely prevented more serious injuries in this crash. For additional information, please contact: Thomas M.
