General Narrative |
Kingsport Police Detectives are working to identify three suspects in a felony shoplifting incident at a local department store.
On December 15, 2013 at approximately 9:00 PM, three suspects shoplifted multiple items from Belk, located in the Kingsport Town Center, at 2101 Fort Henry Drive in Kingsport. The suspects loaded up a shopping cart with several Polo brand items, multiple tablet computers, and other merchandise and wheeled their loot out of the store without paying. They fled the Kingsport Town Center in a silver Audi 4-door sedan with a glass moon roof. The total value of the stolen items exceeds $2,000. The suspects are described as two black males and one black female. They were captured on surveillance video, and photos are included in this release. The actual video is available for viewing on the K.P.D. YouTube channel via the links below: The group of suspects was also spotted acting suspicious at both local Wal-Mart locations later the same evening. Managers at both stores stated that when they confronted the suspects, they retreated to the same described silver Audi 4-door sedan that they used to escape the earlier incident at Belk. They were caught on Wal-Mart surveillance footage as well. Detectives are hoping that the public can help them identify any or all of these suspects. Anyone who may know their identities or have any additional information that may help with this investigation is asked to contact the K.P.D. Criminal Investigations Division at 423-229-9429 or Kingsport Central Dispatch at 423-246-9111. For additional information, please contact: P.I.O. Thomas M. Patton K.P.D. KINGSPORT – A fun and exciting weekend is in store for racers and spectators January 4-5 at Domtar Park in Kingsport, TN. Saturday, January 4th, will be the final races for the local MSG Cyclo-cross Series and the Southeastern Regional Cyclo-cross Series. On Sunday, January 5th, the Kingsport Cyclo-cross Cup returns to Domtar, which is the only international-level event in Tennessee and is sanctioned by the UCI. Sundays race is also part of the newly formed ProCX calendar organized by USA Cycling. The ProCX calendar consists of 41 races across the nation, with the Kingsport race being the final ProCX race on the calendar. Individual prizes for the day total nearly $6,000.00, and that is in addition to the $40,000 USA Cycling committed in overall prize money for pro men and women racing the series. The race for the ProCX title is very tight and the Kingsport Cyclo-cross Cup could be the deciding factor in the series. Racers from around the country are expected to participate in the race.
The racecourse is nearly two miles long, flat and fast, with technical sections interspersed through out the course. Both days have race categories for beginners to pros. Cyclo-cross is an extremely fun and exciting event to watch, and the public is invited come out and join in. Spectating is free to the public. Cyclo-cross is a mixture of road and mountain bike racing. Most racers ride a cyclo-cross bike, which is basically a road bike that has knobby tires and mountain-bike style brakes. Cyclo-cross races usually occur in a park or open field where riders do multiple laps per race, which makes it spectator friendly and fun to watch, as large portions of the course can be seen from most anywhere on the course. Cyclo-cross is a Fall and Winter sport that pits riders against adverse weather conditions such as snow, rain, wind, and mud, which is one of the aspects that has made the sport so popular. Riders begin in mass-start fashion and must navigate through both paved and off-road terrain, often times dismounting their bikes to hurdle barriers, climb steep hills or stairs, push or carry their bike through mud and/or snow, or traverse other obstacles.

Name | Dena Marie Riddle |
Age | 43 Years of Age |
Race/Sex | White/Female |
Address | Kingsport |
Injuries | Fatal |
Blood Alcohol Content | .254 BAC |
General Narrative |
K.P.D. has received the pathology report on the driver of the Acura in the fatal crash on September 14, 2013 on Fort Henry Drive near South Street.
The Kingsport Police Department was previously notified by the Medical Examiner that the driver of the Acura in the fatal crash had been positively identified as Dena Marie Riddle, 43 years of age, of Kingsport. An autopsy has since been completed, and those results have been forwarded to the K.P.D. Traffic Unit. The pathology report indicates that the cause of Ms. Riddle’s death was multiple blunt force trauma sustained in the crash. Furthermore, the report lists Ms. Riddle’s blood alcohol level at the time of her death at .254 BAC which is in excess of three times the legal limit of .08 BAC. With the receipt of this new information from the Medical Examiner, the K.P.D. Traffic Unit has now concluded that both excessive speed and extreme alcohol impairment on the part of Ms. Riddle were the two major contributing factors in this crash. The investigation is now complete, and with Ms. Riddle now deceased, there will be no charges filed in this crash. Ms. Riddle was killed when the 2002 Acura RSX 2-door coupe she was driving at 104 miles per hour crossed the center lane and struck a Ford Expedition head on. Walter T. (Tony) Bellamy (58 years of age) was driving the Ford Expedition and was critically injured in the crash. He died three days later on September 17th when he succumbed to his injuries at Holston Valley Medical Center. Two of Mr. Bellamy’s family members were also seriously injured in that crash.
