KINGSPORT – Kingsport City Schools has launched a new pilot program called SchoolMessenger Quick TIP where students are empowered to anonymously submit tips and other feedback to authorized KCS school administrators.
The pilot program was introduced to John Sevier Middle School and Robinson Middle School last week.
School administrators are able to receive tips at any time and have the ability to respond in a timely manner to issues that impact the school or individual students. The reported issues range from peer pressure, campus violence, depression, suicide and bullying (to name a few).
The goal of this pilot program is to evaluate another tool that we hope will foster an even more safe and caring school community, said Dr. Lyle Ailshie, superintendent, Kingsport City Schools. We want to ensure that students have a voice to report issues that may impact their peers and/or school. We hope that by providing an avenue for anonymous reporting, students will feel more comfortable speaking up regarding concerns or information they may have.
Students, staff, parents and other stakeholders can visit the district website, Sevier or Robinson Middle Schools websites and click the Quick TIP logo. Users are then taken to the KCS District SchoolMessenger Quick TIP website where users may choose to communicate anonymously or non-anonymously. Users can identify which schools needs to receive the tip, select an appropriate topic from the dropdown list, write the message and submit the tip. Users also have the option to include an image.
For instant access, flyers within the school have QR codes that link directly to the website.
The trial run is until the remainder of the 2013-2014 school year, then will be evaluated for potential system implementation for the fall of 2014.
