The City of Kingsport will celebrate Earth Day 2014 with a schedule of events including a GoPro Camera giveaway and free radon test kits provided by Tennessee Department of Environment and Conservation.
Kicking things off will be a free to public guided bird walk on the Kingsport Birding Trail. The walk starts at 8:00AM and ends at 9:00AM on Saturday April 19th on the Greenbelt beside PetSmart in East Stone Commons shopping center located at the corner of N. Eastman Road and E. Stone Drive. Starting at 9:00AM until 11:00AM on Saturday April 26th Keep Kingsport Beautiful will have a clean-up event on the Greenbelt. Volunteers are welcome to participate. Group will meet Greenbelt beside PetSmart in East Stone Commons shopping center located at the corner of N. Eastman Road and E. Stone Drive. Bays Mountain Park and Planetarium will host vendor exhibits and live music at the nature center on Saturday April 26th from 11:00AM- 5:00PM. Entrance fee to park is $4.00 per car. Contact Melissa Keeler at 423/229-9447 for info.
ZERO EMISSIONS DAY GoPro CAMERA GIVEAWAY
Zero Emissions Day is April 22, and participants are encouraged to reduce their emissions by walking or biking rather than using a fuel burning automobile and enter their name for a drawing to win a GoPro camera. To register simply email your name and how you reduced fossil fuel consumption on April 22, 2014 to KBT@kingsportbirdingtrail.com by Friday April 25, 2014. The City of Kingsports Stormwater Utility is presenting the STORMWATER MANAGEMENT AWARD for development activities that are innovative and result in treating rainwater and protecting the streams within Kingsport. This years award winning project uses rain gardens to treat and clean rainwater from the parking lot and driveways of the new Burger King on Clinchfield Street. We are pleased to present these awards to the business owner Diane Clayton of Van Mar, Inc. and Lindsey Harris representing the design firm Littlejohn Engineering.
