The Kingsport Police Department needs your help in identifying a suspect in a motor vehicle theft from a local automobile dealership.
On November 6, 2013 employees of Tri-Cities Dodge, located at 869 East Stone Drive in Kingsport, noticed that one of the used vehicles in their inventory, a 2011 Ford Fusion, was missing. While they were unsure of exactly how long the vehicle had been gone, their records indicated that the last time the vehicle could be accounted for was on October 31, 2013. On November 7, 2013, when personnel arrived to open the dealership, the missing vehicle was mysteriously found to have been returned and parked at the entrance. The keys had been placed in the overnight drop box. While cleaning out the vehicle after its return, a receipt dated November 1, 2013 from Wal-Mart, located at 2500 West Stone Drive in Kingsport, was located. Wal-Mart surveillance video from that date captured the vehicle being parked by a female suspect. The suspect was also recorded on surveillance footage while inside the store. She is described as a heavy-set white female, estimated to be in her 20s or 30s, of average height, with long dark hair (last seen pulled back in a ponytail). She appears to have several tattoos that are especially prominent on her left shoulder and upper arm area. Photos of the suspect are included in this release. Also included is a link to the K.P.D. YouTube Channel showing the actual video footage. Anyone who can assist detectives with identifying this suspect is asked to call the K.P.D. Criminal investigations Division at 423-229-9429 or Kingsport Central Dispatch at 423-246-9111. For additional information, please contact: P.I.O. Thomas M. Patton K.P.D. General Narrative |
K.P.D. Vice Detectives have arrested three individuals for multiple drug related offenses after a Patrol Officer stopped to check on a stranded motorist.
On November 11, 2013 at approximately 10:30 PM, Kingsport Police Patrol Officer Marshall Begley saw a stranded 1999 Chevrolet Malibu on the roadside of North John B. Dennis Highway near the intersection with Orebank Road in Kingsport. He stopped to offer assistance and learned from the occupants, Deborah Begley, Tonya Gideon, and Johnny White, that the vehicle had run out of gas. Upon continued contact with Mr. White, a strong odor of burnt marijuana was detected on his clothing. Additionally, three straws (commonly associated with the insufflation of narcotics) were observed protruding from his pocket. Based on these observations a further investigation by the K.P.D. Vice Unit ensued. A search of the vehicle revealed a small black pouch containing a white rock substance believed to be the trendy new street drug, “gravel,” located between the front seats. A set of digital scales, commonly associated with the weighing of narcotics for resale, was located in the back seat area. None of the three occupants of the vehicle would claim ownership of the contraband in question, so all three were arrested and transported to the Kingsport City Jail. The vehicle was seized as it was being utilized for the transportation of illegal narcotics. Upon their arrival at the jail, both Ms. Begley and Mr. White were found to be in possession of additional contraband. Ms. Begley acknowledged that she had a Subutec pill concealed in her bra, while Mr. White revealed that he had a marijuana cigarette hidden in his hat, and a pipe, commonly used for smoking marijuana, tucked away in his boot. Ms. Begley was charged with: 1) Possession of a Controlled Substance Analogue for Resale (Gravel) 2) Simple Possession of a Schedule III Drug (Subutec) 3) Introduction of Contraband into a Penal Facility 4) Possession of Unlawful Drug Paraphernalia (Digital Scales) Ms. Gideon was charged with: 1) Possession of a Controlled Substance Analogue for Resale (Gravel) 2) Possession of Unlawful Drug Paraphernalia (Digital Scales) Mr. White was charged with: 1) Possession of a Controlled Substance Analogue for Resale (Gravel) 2) Simple Possession of a Schedule VI Drug (Marijuana) 3) Introduction of Contraband Into a Penal Facility 4) Possession of Unlawful Drug Paraphernalia (Digital Scales, Straws, Marijuana Pipe) For additional information, please contact: P.I.O.
