UPDATE: Both suspects have been identified, one has been arrested, and charges are pending against the other.
Shortly after K.P.D. requested public assistance in identifying these two suspects, the calls started pouring in. Detectives received numerous tips and quickly had the male suspect identified as Brandon Anderson of Church Hill, TN. On December 10, 2013 at approximately 3:00 PM, Mr. Anderson was located, interviewed, charged with Felony Theft over $1,000 and booked into the Kingsport City Jail. The female suspect has been identified as Mr. Anderson’s wife, Piper Anderson. Detectives will be obtaining an arrest warrant for her today, charging her with the same offense. One of the stolen video game consoles has already been recovered, and another has been located with recovery pending. Detectives are continuing their investigation and following leads in hopes of tracking down the other five game systems. The Kingsport Police Department wishes to thank the good citizens of our community who stepped up and helped bring two criminals to justice. As previously released: Police are seeking help from the public in identifying a couple who recently shoplifted seven video game systems worth over $1,500. On December 4, 2013 at approximately 5:00 PM, two individuals shoplifted (4) Sony PlayStation 3 Game Consoles and (3) Microsoft Xbox 360 Game Consoles from Wal-Mart, located at 3200 Fort Henry Drive in Kingsport. The total value of the stolen property exceeds $1,500. The couple loaded the seven game systems into a shopping cart and wheeled them out of the store with no attempt to pay for the merchandise. They left Wal-Mart in a white mini-van believed to be either a Chrysler Town and Country, Dodge Caravan, or Plymouth Voyager. The suspects are a white male and a white female estimated to be in their mid 30s. Photos of these two suspects are included in this release. Additional surveillance video clips have been posted to the K.P.D. YouTube Channel at the links provided below. Anyone who may be able to help detectives identify either of these suspects is asked to contact the K.P.D. Criminal Investigations Division at 423-229-9429 or Kingsport Central Dispatch at 423-246-9111. For additional information, please contact: P.I.O. Thomas M. Patton K.P.D.
