| GENERAL NARRATIVE | |||
| On January 15, 2015, the Kingsport Police Department issued a news release, complete with surveillance photos and video, soliciting public assistance in identifying and locating two suspects in a felony shoplifting incident. Numerous tips from citizens immediately began pouring in, helping detectives quickly identify the couple as Brandon W. Graham and Nicole Marie Scott. Warrants were obtained charging both suspects with Theft over $500.
On January 16, 2015 at approximately 10:00 PM, another citizen tip helped Kingsport Police Patrol Officers track down Mr. Graham and Ms. Scott at Pinecrest Apartments, located at 3996 Memorial Boulevard in Kingsport. The couple was promptly arrested on the outstanding felony warrants. When officers searched Mr. Graham incident to arrest, they found a .40 caliber handgun in his pocket. Mr. Graham’s criminal history included prior felony convictions which prohibited him from possessing the firearm in question. This discovery resulted in the additional charge of Possession of a Firearm by a Convicted Felon being placed against him. Both suspects were transported to the Kingsport City Jail for processing. Mr. Graham remains incarcerated in the Kingsport City Jail pending a $12,000 bond. Ms. Scott has since been transferred to the Sullivan County Jail in Blountville, where she is being held in lieu of a $5,000 bond. The Kingsport Police Department would like to thank the citizens of Kingsport who assisted in the expedient identification and apprehension of these individuals. As previously released: On November 16, 2014 at approximately 8:45 PM, two suspects, one a white male and the other a white female, shoplifted over $500 in merchandise from Wal-Mart, located at 3200 Fort Henry Drive in Kingsport. The couple left the scene in a vehicle believed to be a silver Ford Taurus sedan. On the same date, at approximately 10:10 PM the same couple went to another Kingsport Wal-Mart location, located at 2500 West Stone Drive, and returned the stolen merchandise for credit placed on a Wal-Mart gift card. Still on the same date, at approximately 11:30 PM, the same couple returned to the original Wal-Mart store and used the money on the gift card to purchase new merchandise. Photographs of the suspects, taken from surveillance video, have been included in this release. A clip from the video surveillance footage has been made available for viewing on the K.P.D.
