KPD e-News Release: K.P.D. Seeking Man Who Swam River to Attempt to Steal Vehicle
GENERAL NARRATIVE |
On July 27, 2014 at approximately 12:05 AM a male suspect attempted to steal a 1995 Geo Tracker from an Eastman Chemical Company parking lot, located at 1911 James C. White Drive in Kingsport. The suspect stripped the ignition column and unsuccessfully attempted to “hotwire” the vehicle.
What makes this particular incident unique is that the suspect is believed to have swam across the river adjacent to the property on his way to the scene of the crime, and swam back across the river to complete his getaway. The suspect was captured on surveillance video walking down James C. White Drive both on his way to and from the parking lot. In the first video clip, he can be clearly seen dripping water and leaving wet footprints on the dry road surface. Photos of the suspect taken from this video footage are included in this release. Both of these video clips have been made available for viewing on the K.P.D. YouTube channel via the link below: Anyone who recognizes this individual or has any additional information related to this incident is asked to contact the K.P.D. Criminal Investigations Division at 423-229-9429 or Kingsport Central Dispatch at 423-246-9111. |
