GENERAL NARRATIVE |
On March 29, 2014 at approximately 7:30 AM, a 71 year old man was robbed at gunpoint while visiting a friend in a Kingsport subdivision. The victim was walking down the driveway of his friend’s residence on Radcliffe Avenue in the Tellico Hills neighborhood when he was approached by the suspect.
The suspect pointed a black semi-automatic handgun at the victim and ordered him to surrender his money or wallet. The victim complied and the suspect fled with an undisclosed amount of cash. The victim was not injured in the robbery. The suspect is described as a white male, approximately 5’10” in height, with a medium build. He was wearing a military-style camouflage jacket and pants, and concealed his identity with dark sunglasses and a tan ski mask that covered his entire face and neck. He should be considered armed and dangerous. The suspect was driving an older model (at least 10 years old) sedan (unknown if 2-door or 4-door) that was either dark gray or brown in color with tinted windows. The victim noted one very specific unique identifier regarding the vehicle. There was side-swipe damage to the driver’s door. The damage appeared to be old, and possibly even painted over; however, there was rippling visible from the interior structural ribs of the door. There was an additional passenger in the suspect’s vehicle who did not actively participate in the robbery. This second individual was wearing a knit hat of some sort. Kingsport Police Detectives are asking for anyone who can help identify this suspect or his passenger, may know the whereabouts of the vehicle, or may have any additional information regarding this incident, to contact the K.P.D. Criminal Investigations Division at 423-229-9429 or Kingsport Central Dispatch at 423-246-9111. |
