K.P.D. Crash Reports Now Available Online
KINGSPORT – Effective immediately, Kingsport Police Department crash reports will be available for download online. ‚ K.P.D. has recently partnered with PoliceReports.US to provide this service at no cost to the City of Kingsport.‚ This service will offer citizens the convenient option of obtaining a copy of their crash report from home or work, 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
PoliceReports.US distributes crash reports online for nearly 1000 law enforcement agencies nationwide.‚ PoliceReports.US has estimated that K.P.D. will save over $36,000 per year in labor costs alone by utilizing this online distribution system, not to mention the savings of the additional costs associated with photocopying, printing, mailing, and/or faxing reports.
When a Kingsport Police Patrol Officer responds to a motor vehicle collision, he or she will issue a business card containing the incident number to those individuals involved in the crash.‚ The card will also contain instructions on how to access a report.‚ An individual can search PoliceReports.US for their report by utilizing the provided incident number or the date of their crash and their last name.‚ There is a $5 fee to download each report.
