Information Resources: Board of Mayor and Aldermen
A recent survey conducted by Kingsport’s Communications and Public Relations Department found that keeping up with the activities and actions of the Board of Mayor and Aldermen (BMA) is important to city residents.
The BMA is the elected governing board for the City of Kingsport and is responsible for approving such things as the annual budget, city ordinances, major projects and the hiring of the city manager. The seven-member board includes Mayor Pat Shull, Vice-Mayor Colette George and Aldermen Betsy Cooper, Darrell Duncan, Paul Montgomery, Tommy Olterman and James Phillips.

The best way to know what the BMA votes on every month is to sign up for the BMA Highlights Newsletter. Simply go to www.kingsporttn.gov and at the bottom of the page enter your email address. Following each BMA meeting, you’ll receive an email newsletter containing the meeting highlights, vote tallies, project updates and more.
