Bays Mountain Planetarium announces new planetarium show
KINGSPORT – Bays Mountain Planetarium has a new show entitled Exploring New Horizons. Its about the New Horizons spacecraft mission to Pluto. The show covers the history of planetary discovery, especially that of Pluto, and takes you to the outer reaches of our Solar System. The program is great for all ages, but best for 3rd grade and above. The program includes a live activity to discover how difficult it was to discover Pluto. In addition, the show ends with a live update on the mission and Pluto as well as a brief tour of the current night sky.
The Pluto flyby of New Horizons takes place on July 15, so youll be seeing much about it in the news.
The show was produced by Planetarium and Exhibits staff here at Bays Mountain and were excited to have you visit and see the program. The new show will run through the summer at 1 and 4 p.m. daily. A 5 p.m. show is added for the weekends. The 2 p.m. show is currently Appalachian Skies – Spring. Its a live tour of the current night sky.
