KINGSPORT – The Joint Speakers Bureau, comprised of Kingsport Office of Small Business Development and Entrepreneurship (KOSBE), your Kingsport Chamber of Commerce and Small Business Development Center ETSU – Kingsport Affiliate, will host Active Shooter Preparedness, Thursday, June 19, from 9 to 11 a.m. at your Kingsport Chamber of Commerce.
Nearly 2 million American workers have reported being victims of workplace violence each year, with homicide being the fourth-leading cause of fatal workplace injuries.‚¹‚ Active Shooter Preparedness Workplace Training offers an opportunity to educate employees on this topic and empower them in a workplace active shooter situation.
Training attendees should expect to learn the definition of an active shooter, how to increase chances of survival in the event of workplace violence, what to expect from the police response, the difference in situational awareness and paranoia, fight-flight-freeze responses, the role of threat assessment teams, and more.
This training is for private citizens, school officials, risk managers, safety and security personnel, human resources personnel, public relations personnel, mid and senior level management, supervisors, and others interested in increasing their chances of surviving active shooting situations and mitigating their organizations risk and liability.‚ Whether you are in a plant environment or in an establishment that is open to the public, you wont want to miss this important information.‚ It could save your life.
This training is presented by John Rose, Lead Instructor of Holston International Training and Consulting (HITAC.) Rose is a graduate of FBI National Academy class 197 and holds a M.A. in Criminal Justice from East Tennessee State University.‚ He is an Adjunct Professor at ETSU and instructs classes to include Counter Terrorism and Workplace Violence Prevention.‚ Rose actively served in local law enforcement for 18 years and spent seven years as a Law Enforcement Academy Instructor, where he assisted in training over 1,000 law enforcement officers in the response to active shooting situations.
