Regional Transportation Plans Seek Public Opinion
An online survey, located at www.MyRegionMoves.com has been created by the MPO so area residents can quickly and easily share their input on transportation needs in the region. Additional information on the project can also be found by logging on to the MPO website at www.mpo.kingsporttn.gov.
A public meeting to gather critical input from area residents is scheduled for June 9, 2011 at the Kingsport Public Library, 400 Broad Street from 4 pm to 8 pm. Residents are invited to share their thoughts and ideas on needed road improvements as well as other transportation investments such as sidewalks, bike lanes, greenways and public transportation. The meeting is an informal, open‚¬house format so individuals can come and go as their personal schedules allow.
The public meeting will help the MPO understand core transportation needs in the region whether it is an intersection or roadway improvement, sidewalk or bicycle facility or providing additional public transportation options, MPO Transportation Coordinator Chris Campbell said Monday. With rising gas prices people are seeking the most cost effective transportation option. At the same time, the Kingsport Area MPO is charged with ensuring that future transportation plans likewise provide the most cost effective, sustainable and economically beneficial solutions.
