NEWS RELEASE
SUBJECT: Kingsport Police Searching for Suspect in Robbery in Grocery Store Parking Lot
DATE: January 6, 2016
CASE #: 16-000373
GENERAL NARRATIVE
On January 6, 2015 at approximately 5:30 PM, an unknown suspect robbed a 65 year old woman in the parking lot of Food City, located at 1205 North Eastman Road in Kingsport. The woman was returning to her vehicle with some groceries when she was attacked from behind.

The suspect forcefully pushed her partially into her car, into the rear floorboard of the vehicle, causing her to strike her head. He stole her purse and fled the scene in what appears to be a silver, 4-door, early 2000s model Honda Accord. The Honda has a spoiler on the trunk lid and a glass moonroof.

The suspect was described by multiple witnesses as being a white male, 25-30 years of age, approximately 5 feet 10 inches in height, with an average build, and wearing a dark-colored hooded sweatshirt or jacket.

Based on the description of the suspect and his vehicle, K.P.D. Detectives are looking into the strong possibility that this is the same suspect who robbed two employees at Smart Cuts the previous evening.

Photos of the suspect’s vehicle, taken from surveillance video footage, have been included in this release. Anyone who may recognize the vehicle or know the identity of the owner/operator is asked to contact Detectives in the K.P.D. Criminal Investigations Division by calling 423-229-9429 or call Kingsport Central Dispatch at 423-246-9111.
