NEWS RELEASE
SUBJECT: K.P.D. Searching for Two Suspects in Fraudulent Cell Phone Account Scam
DATE: January 21, 2015
CASE #: 14-023175
GENERAL NARRATIVE
On December 3, 2014 at approximately 10:30 AM two suspects opened a cellular telephone account at the AT&T Store, located at 1817 East Stone Drive in Kingsport. The account was opened by fraudulently using the identity of an individual who lives out of state. It is unknown how the suspects obtained the victim’s personal information.

The suspects used the fraudulent account to purchase three iPhone 6 smart phones which were then billed to the victim’s account. The victim only became aware of this incident when he received the bill in the mail.

The suspects were captured on surveillance video during the transaction, and photos taken from that footage are included in this release. The actual video footage has been made available for viewing on the K.P.D. YouTube Channel via the link below.
