Net Metering Approved for Kingsport Customers
Kingsport Power customers who generate their own electric power from alternative energy sources like solar, wind or water will now be able to enter into a mutually beneficial partnership with their local utility company.
The Tennessee Regulatory Authority (TRA) has approved a Net Metering Service tariff for the area served by Kingsport Power. Net Metering allows consumers to generate their own alternative energy and sell it back to their utility company. Net Metering service will be available to Kingsport Powers residential and small commercial customers, including area public schools. It will be available on a first come, first serve basis to customers with eligible Renewable Fuel Generators, or RF Generators.
The TRA approved tariff would require Kingsport Power customers to meet certain conditions of service before a net metering agreement is entered into, including assuming responsibility for all equipment and installation costs as well as agreeing to a safety inspection by Kingsport Power officials, among other conditions.‚ ‚ ‚ ‚ ‚ ‚ ‚ ‚ ‚ ‚ ‚ ‚ ‚ ‚ ‚ ‚ ‚ ‚ ‚ ‚ ‚ ‚ ‚ ‚ ‚ ‚ ‚ ‚ ‚ ‚ ‚ ‚ ‚ ‚ ‚ ‚ ‚ ‚ ‚ ‚ ‚ ‚ ‚ ‚ ‚ ‚ ‚ ‚ ‚ ‚ ‚ ‚ ‚ ‚ ‚ ‚ ‚ ‚ ‚ ‚ ‚ ‚ ‚ ‚ ‚ ‚ ‚ ‚ ‚ ‚ ‚ ‚ ‚ ‚ ‚ ‚ ‚ ‚ ‚ ‚ ‚ ‚ ‚ ‚ ‚ ‚ ‚ ‚ ‚ ‚ ‚ ‚ ‚ ‚ ‚ ‚
