General Narrative |
Kingsport Police Detectives are in search of suspect information in an attempted auto theft case.
On August 1, 2013 at approximately 3:00 AM, an unknown suspect entered the parking lot of Collins Auto Center, located at 952 Lynn Garden Drive in Kingsport. The suspect opened several unlocked vehicles, damaged dashboard panels, and cut wires in an apparent attempt to “hotwire” them. The suspect then tried unsuccessfully to push a Honda Civic under the security cable that gated the parking lot in an obvious attempt to steal it. The suspect appears to be white male, with a slim build, and short, dark hair. A photo of the suspect taken from surveillance video footage is included in this release. The actual video is available for viewing by the media and is somewhat clearer than the photo. Anyone with any information regarding the identity of this suspect is asked to contact the K.P.D. Criminal Investigations Division at 423-229-9429 or Kingsport Central Dispatch at 423-246-9111. For additional information, please contact: Ptl. Thomas M. Patton K.P.D.
