General Narrative |
Detective are investigating allegations of threats with a gun stemming from the shooting of a dog.
On December 15, 2013 at approximately 3:00 PM, Kingsport Police Patrol Officers responded to the 3900 block of Rocky Hill Lane in Kingsport in reference to a heated dispute between neighbors. Based upon their initial findings and the serious nature of the allegations, a detective was called to the scene to take over the investigation. The subsequent investigation revealed the following: Gregory W. Stallard stated that he arrived at his residence at 3913 Rocky Hill Lane. He said that as he exited his vehicle, his neighbor’s unleashed dog charged him aggressively. He claimed that he shot the dog one time in self-defense, striking it in the head and killing it instantly. Mr. Stallard stated that he then went to his neighbor’s house at 3909 Rocky Hill Lane to tell the owner of the dog, William D. Creasy, what had happened. Mr. Stallard alleged that Mr. Creasy reacted to the news by producing a gun and threatening to kill him. Mr. Stallard said he ran from Mr. Creasy’s residence and called 911. Mr. Creasy gave a different account of the incident. He said that his dog, a Belgian Malinois, was a service animal trained in diabetes detection. He stated that his dog was not aggressive and that Mr. Stallard had played with it in the past. Mr. Creasy claimed that when Mr. Stallard notified him of the shooting of the dog, the two argued some; however, he neither produced a gun nor threatened to kill Mr. Stallard. He estimated the value of the animal at between $20,000 and $50,000. There were no witnesses to this incident other than the two individuals involved. This case is still under investigation by the K.P.D. Criminal Investigations Division; however, at this time it is being weighed solely on the directly conflicting testimony of the two individuals involved.
