KPD e-News Release: Juvenile Suspect in Custody in Convenience Store Armed Robbery Investigation

A suspect is in custody in a Kingsport Police Department investigation into a recent armed robbery to a local convenience store.
On November 6, 2014 at approximately 9:00 PM, officers responded to an armed robbery at the Minute Market, located at 1108 East Center Street in Kingsport. During the course of the investigation, a 14 year old male juvenile was developed as a suspect. On November 12, 2014 at approximately 2:00 PM, K.P.D. Detectives received information that the suspect was at his residence, which is in close proximity to the Minute Market. Detectives immediately responded to the residence and took the suspect into custody without incident. Due to the age of the suspect, no further details regarding his identity are able to be released. As previously released: On November 6, 2014 at approximately 9:00 PM, Kingsport Central Dispatch was notified of an armed robbery in progress at the Minute Market located at 1108 East Center Street in Kingsport. Kingsport Police Patrol Officers and Detectives responded. The subsequent investigation revealed the following: An unknown white male suspect with a small build entered the store dressed in dark colored clothing from head to toe, including a ski mask and gloves. He brandished what appeared to be a large framed, dark colored, semi-automatic pistol and demanded money from the clerk. The suspect fled the scene with an undisclosed amount of money prior to police arrival. Nobody was injured during the incident. The robbery was captured on surveillance video, and photos taken from that footage are included in this release.
