SUBJECT: | Detectives Requesting Assistance in Identifying Suspect in Multiple Incidents of Debit Card Fraud | ||
DATE: | October 17, 2014 |
GENERAL NARRATIVE |
Kingsport Police Detectives are attempting to identify a suspect connected to multiple incidents of debit card fraud that occurred at Wal-Mart, located at 2500 West Stone Drive in Kingsport.
On October 5, 2014 at approximately 5:00 PM, the same black male suspect used nine different debit cards to make multiple transactions totaling nearly $2,750. In almost every transaction, the suspect purchased pre-paid Visa gift cards. Each of the nine debit cards were linked to a different victim’s account; however, the common denominator is that each of the account holders still had their own debit card in their possession. The suspect was somehow able to obtain counterfeit “clones” of the victims’ debit cards. A photo of the suspect taken from surveillance video is included in this release. Anyone who recognizes this individual is asked to contact K.P.D. Detectives at 423-229-9429 or call Kingsport Central Dispatch at 423-246-9111. Alternatively, if an individual who is able to supply information related to this or any other case wishes not to be identified, tips can be submitted anonymously via online “Citizen Feedback” forms available at the following link: |
