Kingsport City Schools Begins TCAP Achievement Testing This Week
KINGSPORT – Kingsport City School students in grades 3-8 will be taking the TCAP Achievement tests Wednesday, April 14 through Wednesday, April 21.
This will be the first assessment based on the new, more rigorous Tennessee state curriculum standards, including new achievement levels related to proficiency. Because of these changes, results from TCAP Achievement assessment will not be available until fall 2010 and should not be used as a comparison of 2009 results.
Parents can help their child prepare for the TCAP assessments by:
- Marking the assessment dates on your calendar and avoiding appointments for your child on theses dates
- Having positive conversations with your child about the importance of these assessments
- Making sure your child gets plenty of rest during the testing period
- Feeding your child a healthy breakfast each morning or getting them to school early enough to eat breakfast at school
- Placing encouraging notes in your childs backpack during the testing period
- Getting up early to avoid being rushed during the testing period; a calm start to the day makes the day go much better
