Instrument Placement Sessions To Be Held
KINGSPORT – Kingsport City Schools will hold two band and orchestra instrument placement sessions for all current fifth graders interested in participating in the Ross N. Robinson and John Sevier Middle School programs next school year.
The Ross N. Robinson Middle School Band and Orchestra Instrument Placement Session will be held on Saturday, March 13, 2010 from 9 a.m. to noon at Robinson Middle School. All Robinson-bound fifth graders interested in being members of the 2010-11 Robinson sixth grade band or orchestra will have the opportunity to try instruments in the string, woodwind, brass, and percussion families. Several directors and private instructors will be at the placement session to assess the students compatibility with each instrument, finding the instrument with which each student will achieve success rapidly. All those interested in the band and orchestra programs are encouraged to attend. For more information, contact Kim Hutchison, Band Director at 378-2200.
The John Sevier Middle School Band and Orchestra Instrument Placement Session will be held on Saturday, March 20, from 9 a.m. to noon, at John Sevier Middle School. All Sevier-bound fifth graders interested in being members of the 2010-11 John Sevier sixth grade band or orchestra should attend. This meeting is the entry-point for band and orchestra in grades 6-12 in the Kingsport City Schools. Students will be served in the order of arrival, with numbers issued beginning at 8 a.m. Refreshments will be available for parents while they wait on their children to be selected for instruments.
