KINGSPORT – The Kingsport Office of Cultural Arts and Engage Kingsport are pleased to announce that acclaimed national artist P. Buckley Moss has created a work featuring the Kingsport Carousel.‚ ‚  Ms. Moss will be in Kingsport on Saturday, December 13 from 10 AM‚¬4 PM at Up Against the Wall Gallery greeting fans and signing prints.‚  Up Against the Wall is located at 316 East Market Street in Downtown Kingsport.‚  For directions or to place an order for the limited edition print please call Up Against the Wall at 423.246.7210. A portion of the money raised from this print will go to the Kingsport Carousel Project.

P. Buckley Moss is one of America’s most prized living artists. An alumna of New York’s prestigious Cooper Union for the Advancement of Science and Art, Pat Moss is a formally educated and accomplished artist, highly regarded by academics and collectors alike. Her art is represented in over 200 galleries worldwide.

Having achieved success, she devotes a great deal of her time and effort to helping others. Donations of P. Buckley Moss art have raised over four million dollars for worthy charities. The P. Buckley Moss Foundation for Children’s Education is devoted to promoting the use of art in the classroom, especially as a means to teach children with learning differences.‚  So it is no surprise that Ms. Buckley Moss would want to be involved in the Kingsport Carousel Project.

The goal of the Carousel Project is to build and operate a menagerie-style carousel in Kingsport featuring all hand-carved wooden animals and chariots on a refurbished machine.‚  It has become so much more than just about a carousel.‚  It is a true community project that has brought together over 300 volunteers and created a sense of comradery and place that far exceeds anyones expectations. The carousel will be housed in an enclosed structure for year-round operation adjacent to the Kingsport Farmers Market.‚  The building is under construction now and the Grand Opening of the new Kingsport Carousel will be sometime in Early Spring.

Currently the Carousel Project is working out of a studio at Flying Pig Gallery & Studio at the corner of Broad & Center Streets in the heart of Downtown Kingsport.‚  The public is invited to come by Flying Pig Gallery & Studios Thursday, Friday and Saturdays from 10 am to 7 pm.

Funding for the Kingsport Carousel has all come from grants and generous private donations from community businesses and individuals. Limited opportunities to sponsor parts of the carousel are still available.‚  A portion of the proceeds from the sale of the Buckley Carousel Prints will benefit the Carousel fund raising effort.‚  For more information call the Office of Cultural Arts at (423) 392-8414
