Keep Kingsport Beautiful’s gearing up for Conservation Camp for 4th Graders
KINGSPORT ‚¬ Over 750 fourth grade students from Sullivan County schools, including the City of Bristol and the City of Kingsport, are registered to attend the annual Conservation Camp for Fourth Graders held September 9, 10, and 11 at Warriors Path State Park.
Republic Services marks its fourth year as the Title Sponsor for Conservation Camp.‚ Keep Kingsport Beautiful conducts the camp each year, with assistance from Warriors Path State Park and various other supporters.
Conservation Camp introduces students to a variety of environmental learning activities.‚ Students will rotate through 13 stations, ranging in topics Making Paper and Forestry Conservation by Domtar, Watersheds and Water Conservation by TVA, to Alternative Energy Sources by Hands On! Regional Museum.‚ ‚ The staff at Bays Mountain Park will also be in attendance with Chia, the parks Black Vulture.
Conservation Camp will be held from 9:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. each day in the overflow campground at Warriors Path State Park. Volunteer presenters from various agencies, companies and organizations provide the educational programming.‚ In case of inclement weather, the event will be moved to the recreation building on Duck Island at Warriors Path State Park.
